Qigong Osteoporosis, Osteopenia exercise. There is a special exercise for increasing bone density. It is called "One Foot Thud". It is so simple. Anyone can do it. Here are the directions. I suggest that you stand and do each move as you read these directions.
Some people might prefer to visualize/imagine themselves doing each move before standing to try it.
ONE FOOT THUD..FIRST, Stand at ease with your feet hip wide apart. Have the heel of your right food aligned with the middle of your left instep.
Place your right hand on the kidney area of your back. Now inhale, keep your weight on your right leg as you lift up onto the toes of your left foot. Now swing your left arm upward, over your head as you raise up on those toes.

Now exhale and drop your left foot to the ground with a thud, let your arm fall back down to your side. (Do the foot and arm movements simultaneously.)
Be sure to Repeat this One Foot Thud Qigong Osteoporosis, Osteopenia bone building movement 36 times (In the beginning if you really tire, just do it fewer times. Then add more until you reach the suggested 36 times) After you have done your One Foot Thud on one side, switch sand do it another 36 times on the other side.
Now if you have Osteoporosis or are a bit weakened, the directions state that you should do it only 19 times. That is it! Simple...still I found myself breathing a bit harder when I tried it. But it is so simple - one of those things I can do in the living room (even if the dog is not sure if this is to be a new game...or if her owner is 'having one of those days'.)

Once you get used to it, this is such a simple exercise. No need for special equipment. It is one of those things I can do in the living room (even if the dog is not sure if this is to be a new game...or if her owner is 'having one of those days'.) But really, this Qui Gong Osteoporosis Osteopenia exercise does feel almost like a game AND it seem to have an added benefit. I feel really relaxed at the end.
When I think about it, the THUD is clearly 'weight bearing' and in TCM kidney is seen as governor of bone building so this simple movement/exercise seems to embody the whole bone building TCM approach.
